Managing Compliance Across Borders

A practical checklist for cross-border trade.

Compliance is where cross-border deals stall. Documents, licences and restrictions vary by product and country, and a single missing piece can hold a shipment at the border. A repeatable checklist keeps you ahead of it.

Know the rules for your product and route

  • Correct HS classification for the destination
  • Import licences or permits, if the product requires them
  • Restricted / prohibited goods checks for origin and destination
  • Standards, certifications and labelling requirements

Get the documents right

  • Commercial invoice and packing list
  • Bill of lading or air waybill
  • Certificate of origin (and preference certificates for trade agreements)
  • Any product-specific certificates (quality, safety, phytosanitary)

Build it into the workflow

Compliance shouldn't be a scramble at shipment. Check requirements at the sourcing stage, prepare documents as the order progresses, and keep an audit trail — the approach Imponexpo's platform is designed around.

Imponexpo is in pre-launch — no live orders, payments or escrow are available yet. This resource is a preview to help you prepare.
